Howard Mitchell Group / HISTORICAL
Demand was national. The supply wasn’t.
I saw a geographic gap and built Howard Mitchell Group around it: a business connecting digital demand with suppliers and an operation capable of serving customers across the country.
My role / Finding the opportunity · building demand · running the business
Built from zero to £1M+ annual turnover. No sales team.
The commercial story
- 01
Spot the gap
A supplier could not serve the national demand I could see.
- 02
Build the demand
Search and digital enquiries became the main source of sales.
- 03
Build the operation
Supplier relationships, quotations and customer service had to work together.
- 04
Reach national scale
The business grew to £1M+ annual turnover without a sales team.
Problem
Demand existed across the country. A supplier could not serve it nationally. The gap was geographic, but the opportunity was commercial.
Insight
The opportunity was not simply to sell a product. It was to connect demand to a business capable of answering it.
Build
I created Howard Mitchell around that gap, built the digital acquisition model and developed the commercial operation to serve customers nationally.

The operating sequence behind the story.
From a gap in the market to national scale.
- THE OPPORTUNITY
Demand beyond the local market
A geographic gap became the starting point for a national business.
- THE ENGINE
Digital enquiries → commercial operation
Search-led demand connected with suppliers, quotations and customer service.
- THE SCALE
£1M+ annual turnover
Approximately £3m turnover over four years. Built from zero, without a sales team.
An illustrated account of the business I built. Historical figures; the company later ceased trading.
Facts, context and comparison basis
I identified an unserved geographic opportunity when a supplier could not service national demand, and built Howard Mitchell around it.
Howard Mitchell Group operated nationally, with no sales team and sales driven overwhelmingly by inbound digital enquiries.
Built Howard Mitchell Group from zero to £1M+ annual turnover, with no sales team.
Historical annual turnover, explicitly confirmed by the Founder. My account of the work / September 2026
What came out of it
Built from zero to £1M+ annual turnover, with no sales team and national sales driven overwhelmingly by inbound digital enquiries. Approximately £3m turnover over four years. The commercial result came from connecting demand with an operation able to serve it.
What I took from it
Search demand only becomes a business when the operation behind it can respond. Acquisition, suppliers, service and cash flow are one connected problem.
Where it stands
HISTORICAL
A historical Founder/operator case. The business later ceased trading. The experience remains part of how I think about demand, operational resilience and building again.
